Pamela M. Nelson, CCPSC

Principal Consultant

Ms. Nelson is a Certified Process Safety Professional with more than 30 years of chemical process industry experience, and over 25 years of experience in process safety and health, and safety and environment (HSE) management. Her extensive background includes compliance, process safety, process engineering project management, auditing, and training. Most recently, she has specialized in leading process safety for business units that included global teams and facilities from across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Thailand, China, and the U.K. 

Ms. Nelson is well versed in process safety management (PSM) programs (OSHA 1910.119 regulations) and compliance requirements. She is experienced in conducting process safety management audits to ensure compliance with OSHA 1910.119 regulations with over 10 years of experience auditing and evaluating process hazard analyses (PHAs) globally, including major capital projects for a leading mining reagents. Ms. Nelson is experienced in leading Process Hazard Analysis, Process Safety Management, and Combustible Dust training to employees onsite and online. 

Project Sampling

Developed process safety information and evaluated information and/or plans, including the development and implementation of Safe Work and Process Safety Management procedures.

Led teams that were responsible for corporate-wide compliance and process management programs (including various PHA methods) as well as provided mentoring and training.

Designed and implemented an interlock test procedure for routine testing of safety interlocks.

Experienced in drafting SDSs for new products and updated SDSs, as requested, to comply with GHS.

Provided safety support for annual plant maintenance shutdowns.

Participated in numerous PHA revaluations and provided training and mentoring to PHA leaders.

Experienced at conducting dispersion models for consequence analysis of releases of toxic and/or flammable materials.

Designed, supervised construction, and oversaw start-up of an ester production unit for several European facilities.

Successfully upgraded a hazardous waste incinerator at the Memphis, TN facility to meet MACT standards.
