The BP Texas City incident in March 2005 demonstrated the catastrophic consequences that can result from an improperly designed effluent handling system. The U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board's recommendations following their incident investigation prompted many petrochemical companies to conduct reviews of their effluent handling and flare systems.
A large oil refinery had a flare network that had grown too complex for their in-house software to model effectively. This challenge prompted the refinery to explore more advanced external solutions. In this newsletter, Georges Melhem, Ph.D., FAIChE, and Neil Prophet present their approach for performing a comprehensive flare systems evaluation.
Bonus! This newsletter also includes access to the 46-minute presentation, Practical Guidelines for PRV Stability, by Georges Melhem, Ph.D., FAIChE, for practical guidance on the identification and evaluation of high risk relief systems installations.
Have a great and safe day.
