The way a company manages a major crisis can literally spell the difference between life and death—both for the immediate victims of the crisis and for the company itself. The events of a major crisis transcend an individual plant or facility and may endanger a company’s reputation, a specific product line, an entire manufacturing operation, or even a company’s survival.

Operationally, a crisis demands fast decision-making, often on the basis of incomplete information. As soon as a crisis occurs—or is suspected of occurring—the appropriate senior corporate officer (usually the chief executive) must convene and deploy a crisis management team promptly.

Companies must prepare before a crisis and respond effectively to the event itself. Read this newsletter to learn what five key questions should be immediately addressed during a major crisis to ensure effective crisis management. Examples of past crises that were managed well or otherwise are included.

Topics include:

  • What has happened?
  • Who are the affected constituents?
  • What is the corporation’s legal and financial exposure?
  • How should the corporation communicate its position?
  • How can the corporation regain lost control?
  • 30 Crises in 5 Years
  • Strengthen Crisis Management Skills

As your crisis management team navigates uncharted waters, will they have the skills necessary to turn challenges into opportunities?

Have a great and safe day.
