The Challenge

A seemingly straightforward request for a facility siting study by a prominent U.S. company in the tire manufacturing industry presented a significant two-pronged challenge.

First, they needed immediate data sent to the client’s architect to ensure that the placement of new on-site buildings would not create facility siting issues. Secondly, a comprehensive facility siting study encompassing these new structures was required. This demanded a complex evaluation of individual risks to both on- and off-site populations from potential thermal radiation, toxic, and overpressure hazards, adding another layer of intricate analysis to the project.

Critically, ioMosaic went further to characterize the specific risk incurred by occupants of each existing building and outdoor area, extending this crucial analysis to the planned new occupied building.
  3. This granular data empowered the architect with the necessary information to make informed design and construction decisions. Ultimately, our comprehensive evaluation delivered a robust, risk-based facility siting assessment across all applicable overpressure, thermal radiation, and toxicity hazards, providing a clear pathway for risk minimization.
