Meet Our Executive Team

Marcel Amorós Martí

Director and Partner

As the head of our California office and lead of our PSM practice, Mr. Amorós Martí’s experience consists of a diverse range of industries from chemical and petrochemical to oil and gas and utilities. He is skilled in both the technical and project management aspects of process safety and loss prevention.

Mr. Amorós Martí's expertise includes pressure relief and flare systems design for large chemical and petrochemical companies around the globe and in the United States. He specializes in evaluating the risk of chemical, petroleum, and pharmaceutical process facilities, including: identifying hazardous scenarios, estimating the frequency, modeling the consequences, and leading the decision-making process for implementing suitable and cost-effective safeguards.

In addition, Mr. Amorós Martí has authored many industry white papers and publications, and he is an avid participant at major technical conferences in the U.S. and internationally. He also facilitates training related to process safety management and pressure relief and flare systems design.

Project Sampling

Conducted advanced dynamic simulations for PRFS design of reactive systems, including fire-induced thermal decomposition reactive cases and two-phase dynamic modeling.

Conducted LOPA studies for oil and gas refineries to identify existing layers of protection in order to decrease the risk levels, estimated via QRA to a tolerable limit.

Conducted consequence modeling and QRA studies involving a wide array of toxic and flammable materials. Knowledgeable in providing recommendations for optimizing the implementation of specific risk reduction measures intended to prevent and/or mitigate the actual level of risk, emergency planning implementation, recommending land-use planning decision-making, and analyzing both facility siting and potential domino effects triggered by explosions and fires.

Led the effort to design a complex fluid curtain system to mitigate toxic dispersions from several process units in an oil and gas facility. The design included defining the system parameters such as spray nozzle characteristics, fluid type, flow requirements, and solubility, as well as ensuring operation as an Independent Protection Layer (IPL).

Taught the PHA/HAZOP Leader Course on team leader concepts, techniques for effective facilitation, a review of PHA revalidations, and PHA methodologies such as HAZOP, What-if and Checklist methodologies.
